When you join Business Manager, colleagues can’t view your personal Facebook profile unless you approve their friend requests. Colleagues can only see your name, work email address and the Pages and ad accounts you have access to.

Step-1: Login to Facebook business manager account

To start a FB business manager, first of all, you should have an existing Facebook profile account or you can create a new FB account for this.

To start your new account, click on the link https://business.facebook.com/overview or you can just type Facebook business manager in Google and click on the first link that shows up in the search bar. Once after clicking, you will be directed to the below page,

Click on the ‘Create account” button to start to create Facebook business manager account and you will find the below screen to fill up.

Fill all the details as indicated above. Your business name is the name that will be seen by your clients, customers, vendors or whoever contacts you. Provide your name and email ID for verification, to get your FB business manager updates, etc.

Click on submit after entering all the details, which will take you to the below screen.

Confirm your FB business manager account by verifying the link sent to your registered mail id as shown below,

Click on the Confirm now button to verify and confirm your account, once done the below page will come up,

Here as shown, in the snapshot, you can create or add pages as well as ad accounts to your business page. These are the main two accounts that are basically required to create a Facebook ad campaign. You can also add people, Instagram accounts etc. to your business manager from the same above page.

Step -2: How to add a page in facebook business manager?

Now to add or manage Facebook page just click on the ‘Pages‘ option under ‘Accounts‘ and the below screen will come up,

Click on the Add button, it will show up options to create a Facebook page, to add a page and to request access for a page. In the present case, we will add a Facebook page account that is already created and the admin role request is already done. You can add your already available page in this case. Remember to have admin control of the page.

After clicking the add a page option the below screen will come up.

Once the above window pops up, let’s add the existing page name or URL as shown above.

The corresponding FB business page account will be shown automatically in the drop-down list. You just have to confirm that you are at least one of the admin of the selected page.

Once after adding the page, click on Add Page, and your Facebook page will be added. It will be confirmed in the next step where you will see the below screen.

You can also add Facebook pages and people as indicated in the below snapshot. After you are done with adding the page now it’s time for the ad account.

The Business manager does good work to keep all your ad accounts in a single place, minimising the time to hover from one account to other.

Step -3: Add ad account to Facebook business manager account

Now to manage or create Facebook ad account, click on the Ad account tab as shown and the below screen will pop up on the right.

Next, just click on Add and there will be three options same as that of adding a page which we saw earlier. You can add a Facebook ad account, request an ad account (from clients, customers or businesses), and finally, create a new Facebook ad account.

For the present article, we will create Facebook ad account as both the other ways are self-explanatory and can be added in one or two clicks. So, now click on the Create a new ad account option, which will open up the below screen.

Now here, just add all your details, add your ad account name, set your time zone correctly for delivering facebook ads in relevant locations correctly. Set your local currency.

One point to note is that you will be able to add your billing information after creating your account. Once after filling in all the details, click on next to find the below pop up.

In above pop-up, it will ask about the purpose of the Facebook ad account. As you are creating the ad account for your purpose and work, just select the My business option. After that click on the Create button which will show you the following screen.

In this Add people and set permissions tab, select your name, after that enable the manage ad account button as shown above. Once you enable, then you will get the admin permissions for managing campaigns, you can view performance and have full control of your ad account.

Now, click on assign to see the below Account created message.

Step -4: Add payment information

For adding payment information, click on the above Add Payment Info tab, and the below pop up will appear.

Click on the Business and tax info and update all your details. GST (Goods and Service Tax) and PAN number, if available, you can include or fill these two points afterwards. If you are just starting with a Facebook ads manager, don’t worry, you don’t have to have a GST number.

However, once your business grows and you start dealing with more clients, it’s always better to have a GST.

On the contrary, just to inform you that, if you have GST, you can claim reverse tax benefit in the money spent on ads. However, if you don’t have, Facebook will charge GST and you will not be able to claim a tax credit.

After filling in all the details, just click on the next and you will find the below window, in which you need to input your Debit or Credit card information, and finally save it.

After saving the card details, just go to Add funds option, in that you will find some additional payment methods are already added. This will be reflected only after you save your debit or credit card details as indicated in the above part.

If you are managing your Facebook ad account from India, you can find PAYTM and UPI options.

However, people from outside India will find options related to the country of origin.

Now, let’s add an amount. Here for example I have indicated 10 INR (in Amount to add) and let’s use PAYTM as the payment method. So, just select PAYTM and click on Add Funds which will show the below screen.

On the screen, you can find a Bar code and as well a Paytm option to add funds as shown above. So, just opt for any of the options and add funds through your linked mobile number and that’s it, your ad account will be recharged with funds.

Step -5: Go to Facebook business manager ad account

Once recharged, your account is now ready to run Facebook ad campaigns for your business or your client’s. You can go to the Ads Manager place by clicking on the three horizontal lines at the top of the Facebook business settings page as shown in the below snapshot.

Once you click on the three lines, the adjacent window All tools will open up.

Then, click on the Ads Manager icon as shown above and you will be directed to the Ad campaigns section, where all your campaigns will be stored.

After that, click on the green-coloured +Create tab, and the Create New Campaign window will appear in front of you, now you can choose your type of campaign whether to run an Awareness or Consideration or Conversion. Regarding how to create a Facebook ad campaign, I shall discuss it in my future posts.

Facebook business manager limitations:

Now you like it or not, a Facebook business manager account comes with few limitations.

Facebook says If you have a regular Ads Manager account, you can create and manage a limited amount of ads, ad sets and campaigns per ad account.

  • You can manage up to 25 ads accounts.
  • You can have 50 ads in each ad set.
  • It permits to 5,000 ad sets.
  • Up to 5,000 campaigns.
  • Up to 5,000 ads.

Once you reach your ads, ad sets or campaign limit, then you can delete some of them for new space. After deleting Facebook archives those which cannot be used, restored or duplicated.

Keep a note of the FB business manager limitations for tracking your ads.
